Friends of the Wetumpka Library (FOWL), established in 2001, is a group of individuals, families and businesses that all have the love of books in common. Another shared belief is the importance of public library service in our community.
FOWL supports the library through fundraisers which supplement already existing sources of funding. This extra funding helps to enrich the library in many ways. For example, FOWL has made various purchases for the library over the last few years including a computer table, a rug for the children’s room, two world globes, 12 chairs, and a collection of about 23 junior and young adult audio books on CD. Another way FOWL is important is by helping the library give back to the community through programming for adults and children. FOWL supports the yearly Summer Library Program and has applied for and received Elmore County Community Grants, has an ongoing booksale in the library, and conducts yearly fundraiser events for this purpose.

For adults FOWL has meetings that feature local authors who love to talk about and autograph their books. For a look at past speakers as well as upcoming programs visit the Events page.

One yearly fund raiser, Murder on the Menu, is held every February. Learn more about this fun time by asking “What is Murder on the Menu?”

One other thing FOWL members do whenever they get together is have fun! Check Membership Information if interested in joining.
